Indigenous Contemporary Scene
Indigenous Contemporary Scene is bringing a group of Indigenous artists from across Kanata to Edinburgh this August to present a programme of live arts across the city’s famous arts festivals.
The programme amplifies the voices of Indigenous artists and highlights the conversation around what it means to be Indigenous today.
The programming also serves as an artist led response to the 2019 UNESCO Year of Indigenous Languages, of which Onishka is a partner, and International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples on the 9 August.
Taking place on the Isle of Arran , the Creators Exchange will bring together a group of Indigenous creators, elders and language keepers from Turtle Island with their Scottish and Gaelic counterparts.
The Indigenous Contemporary Scene (ICS) programme offers a unique creative opportunity for Scottish and Indigenous artists and performers to collaborate with one another, to share their cultural knowledge and to provide their unique perspectives on today’s world and the issues Indigenous peoples face.
